About Samoëns
In the mountains of the Haut-Giffre in Haute-Savoie, Samoëns is a beautiful and historic alpine village, the only ski resort in France also classified for its heritage, thanks to the renown of its master stonemasons — the "frahans" — whose fine carved-stone work adorns buildings across the region and beyond. Around its lovely central square, shaded by a great lime tree planted in the 15th century, gather old stone houses, a covered market hall and a fine church. Above the village, the botanical garden of La Jaÿsinia climbs the hillside with alpine plants from around the world. Set amid magnificent mountains, waterfalls and the wild Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval reserve, Samoëns is a resort for all seasons. Authentic, scenic and rich in mountain heritage, it is one of the most charming villages of the northern Alps.
