About La Forêt des Singes
Near the pilgrimage cliffs of Rocamadour in the Lot, La Forêt des Singes lets visitors wander freely among some 150 Barbary macaques living in near-natural liberty across 20 hectares of woodland. A single trail leads through the forest that the monkeys call home, offering intimate, unforgettable encounters as families of these gentle, endangered apes climb, forage and care for their young all around — visitors may even offer them popcorn handed out at the entrance. The park plays an important role in conserving this threatened North African species and has returned many individuals to the wild in Morocco. Combining a beautiful forest setting with a genuine, close encounter with free-living primates, La Forêt des Singes is a magical and educational family outing and a perfect companion to a visit to nearby Rocamadour.
